The Natchez Trace Parkway is a historic 440-mile trail that runs through a good portion of Tennessee, including the Nashville and Franklin area. There are numerous exciting stops along the route that you are not going to want to miss, especially if you live in the Nashville area.
Stop at The Loveless Cafe
The Loveless Cafe is a well-known restaurant in Nashville that sits less than a mile away from the Northern Terminus of the Natchez Trace. The Loveless Cafe is famously known for its delicious, made from scratch biscuits. They also have delicious homemade jam you can take home with you, and its meals are to die for. Featuring delicious daily specials, you can enjoy a plate of Nashville’s famous hot chicken, watermelon ribs and chicken n’ dumplings. The restaurant also has on-site gift and clothing shops to check out as well.
Stay at a Cottage in Franklin
Franklin has some of the most unique and interesting lodging accommodations along the entire Natchez Trace, and staying at one is quite the experience. Booking a trip to a Franklin Cottage is a great way to celebrate an anniversary with your spouse, take the family on a short vacation or just getaway for the weekend after a stressful week of work. There is a long list of cottages to choose from, including a few visitor favorites such as Jackson Farms Sweet Tea Cottage, Gratitude Ranch and Pickers Cottage.
Take The Kids to Fall Hollow
Fall Hollow is a beautiful waterfall off of the US 412 intersection that will truly take your breath away. The trip requires a short and somewhat steep climb to the beautiful Fall Hollow Waterfall. You can continue walking along the trail to see even more beautiful waterfalls, and there is even a crystal clear pool of water that is safe for kids(and adults) to have fun in. A lot of the trail is shaded, so it is not too exhausting on a hot day, and it is a great way to get the kids out of the house and spend some quality as a family on the weekend, holiday or day off from work.
Take a Walk on Jackson Falls
Jackson Falls is a fun walkway in Duck River that leads to the more famous Baker Bluff Overlook, which many consider one of the most beautiful sites to see on the Natchez Trace. Jackson Falls may not be as well known as Fall Hollow, which is perhaps what many like about it.
It is often less crowded than other popular areas along the Natchez Trace Parkway, and you can take the family there for a fun walk at any time. The trail consists of several bench areas and grills, so you can enjoy a cookout there with the family. However, the trail is somewhat strenuous as it requires a fairly steep - although somewhat short - climb. Nevertheless, the reward of beautiful scenery and fresh air is certainly worth it.
