4 Must-Do Activities in Middle TN Before Kids Head

School is almost back in session, and your kids only have a few weeks to enjoy their summer break. As many parents know, getting children excited about ending their summer and going back to school is not always easy. However, taking your kids on some fun, adventurous fun-days before the summer ends is a great way to send them to school excited to tell about their really cool summer experiences. The following are four fun activities to consider taking part in within the next few weeks. 

 

Visit the Nashville Zoo


The Nashville Zoo at Grassmere is perfect for any kid who is fascinated with animals, and they can see all kinds of different animal types on the 188-acre zoo. The Nashville Zoo consists of over 6,000 animals and over 300 different species. The list of animals includes clouded leopards, giraffes, kanagaroos, monkeys and zebras - and that’s just to name a few. The fact is kids love a fun trip to the zoo with a family, and they are going to see animals that they cannot wait to tell their friends all about on the first day back to school.

 

Take a Trip to Lucky Ladd Farms


Lucky Ladd Farms always has fun events to offer kids, which includes a petting zoo, pony rides, corn maze and water play area. They always have special events to attend as well, including several that take place the last week of July and the first week of August. On July 27th, Lucky Ladd Farms is holding their annual Splash Bash, which consists of inflatable water slides, a bubble blast pool, water balloon toss and much more. Lucky Ladd Farms is located in Eagleville, which is 45 minutes from downtown Nashville and halfway between Franklin and Murfreesboro.

 

Play Mini Golf or Go Bowling


Every kid loves a fun time play mini-golf or going bowling. Unlike other sports activities such as golf or basketball, mini-golf and bowling are easy for kids to play. There are a variety of mini-golf locations to choose from in Middle Tennessee, including the GO USA Fun Park in Murfreesboro, The Putt-Putt Fun Center in Mount Juliet and Grand Ole Golf and Go-Karts in Nashville. Be sure to talk to your kids about their preference, between mini-golf, bowling and other activities such as an arcade or go-karts. Regardless, they are certain to have a blast and enjoy the last few days of summer.

 

Go for a Walk on a Nature Trail


For many children, the biggest drawback to going back to school is sitting at their desk waiting for recess. The fact is kids simply want to move around and burn the massive amounts of energy they seem to have. One great way to send them back to school the right way is to take them on a nature trail, where they can have fun with the family and see nature and its beauty. There are numbers natural trails in Middle Tennessee, including several along the Natchez Trace.
